It has been just another week in paradise here in the unthawing land of Erie. But its been a pretty good time. To be honest, I don't have a whole lot of highlights, it's been pretty slow, but I do have a lot of funny experiences. So I guess I'll just share the awkwardness that is missionary work.
NOT HIGHLIGHTS, BUT NOT LOWLIGHTS EITHER
2. We have had mice the past few weeks. There, I said it. They have been coming and eating our bread in the middle of the night, and when they ate my peanut butter cookies, that's when I drew the line. We captured one of them. It was bloody, we were tired, but success anyways. Well, we set another trap just in case there was another one and sure enough there is, but this one has outsmarted us. Somehow, he eats the peanut butter off the trap without setting it off. So weird. Pray for us haha
3. We messaged a former investigator on Facebook and asked if we could go visit her and she said, "sorry I moved to California".... We saw her daughter the day before who said her mom was home all the time and we could visit. We got a laugh out of it anyways haha.
4. Sister Nilsson, oh how I love her. It's been really fun for me to start singing a Disney song and for her to pipe in singing it in Swedish. She's the best haha
5. We had a lesson with a Less active who we have been working with the pass few weeks. She must have been having a bad day because she was just not having it. She told us about how she believes people in the church judge her and about how Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet and all of this just hate. I was feeling really overwhelmed and just wanted to rebuke her for all the kind things she was saying, but I remembered a scripture that says "charity suffered long..." I prayed silently for God's help, and I was able to tell her exactly what she needed to hear in a kind and firm manner. She was stunned after we were done speaking and said, "you are so right. The church is true, I don't know what I'm saying. Satan must be trying to keep me from learning more." it was SO cool to just see God work through us in a way that could soften her heart.
6.Yesterday our area authority came and had a meeting with the stake leaders about how we can unite families and work to bring members back to full activity. The words he shared with us were just so inspired and I learned so much about how I can help those lost members around me. I think that's all I have, sorry this is long.
Thank you all for being so wonderful and supporting me! I really appreciate it. Every email I get really lifts my spirits. God bless!
