Another week has come and gone here in Erie. The biggest news is it snowed AGAIN. 3 TIMES. IT'S APRIL. I'm pretty over it, hopefully it's done now. I'm ready for green springs!
HIGHLIGHTS
1. This isn't really a highlight, but one day we had to go to the bathroom, so we stopped at a gas station and while I was in the bathroom, sister Nilsson got hit on by some guy. When I came out I had to explain to her what he was trying to do, and how chicken American boys are about their feelings and the awkwardness of flirting. It was pretty funny. I love my Swedish fish.2. We have seen some MIRACLES this week, seriously. And I swear, this was the week where we felt the most burnt out and tired, and God definitely carried us to where we needed to be. One miracle was Annette. Annette is a disabled older lady who just loved from Florida, and needed help unpacking boxes. She was a referral from we don't even know where, and she is so awesome! She has a deaf dog (it's a shame she didn't understand my ASL), and no family around. But, SHE LOVES MORMONS! She wants to be taught and even said she wants to be baptized! I'm excited to see what happens there.
3. We went and visited an investigator who hasn't been taught in over a year, named Crystal. Crystal just happened to be home, and told us all about how much she loves Mormons and how she and her son have been reading the book of Mormon almost every day! She then told us she was the daughter in law of a member family here, and wanted to start meeting there so she could be baptized! MIRACLES.
4. The Zone leaders sent us a text this week and had a challenge for us, they wanted to see who could get the most new investigators in a day. Anyone who knows me, knows I don't back down from a dare. GUESS WHO HAS TO BUY US LUNCH THIS WEEK!? That's right, sister Nilsson and I picked up 3 new investigators in a day and they were all miracles! Take that elders.
5. So we went to visit a less active named Mindy, and she was not doing good at all. Like hadn't taken a shower in days, looked exhausted, and was at the verge of tears. Just not feeling good and not spiritually well. So we did impromptu service for her. We cleaned her kitchen and vacuumed and got her to take a shower. I felt a big prompting that we needed to put on some spiritual music. As soon as we did, the whole house was filled with a sense of peace and love, she brightened up and we left her with tears of gratitude in her eyes. This Sunday, after months and months of not coming to church, she came, and she bore a powerful testimony about the love of God. It was definitely a highlight. I'm so sorry this is long, but I actually had things to write about.
I love yinz and hope all is well. If you've read this far, send me a picture of what you did on Easter or for spring break!
