Another week has come and gone in the great Warren area! I just seriously am so grateful to be serving a mission. My heart is so full and I am learning and growing more and more everyday. I've pondered a lot about the time I have had thus far and am so thankful to look back and see the ways the lord has changed me in my 9 months here, and for the better!
HIGHLIGHT
1. My first highlight is one I didn't even get to see or experience, and it is my brother Jubal's baptism and my brother Talon's ordination to the office of a Priest. I am so proud of both of you! I know that God loves you and is so proud of you for willingly obeying him and showing great faith as you make promises with him! I love you guys!
2. We went to go and see Cindy and Sam again and it was good and sad! They just recently had a niece pass away and they were really mourning her loss. But we were able to share with them about the plan of Salvation and promise them that they would see her again. Cindy has been reading from the Book of Mormon and she loves it!
3. One day as we walked our neighborhood, we both felt like we needed to knock the door of our neighbor right across the street from us. Literally only 100 feet away. A young man named Dave opened the door and I tell ya, he SHINED. He let us share the whole first lesson with him and was so excited to learn more! He gladly accepted a Book of Mormon.
4. We had dinner with an amazing family, the Jessons, one night. We were both tired, and it had been a bit of a tiring day. We knew we were going to go and teach with them after dinner, but we had no one to visit. We got to their home and they had planned ALL the people we would visit and where we would be going. Such a miracle. And all the lessons we had during our split were so inspiring and full of the spirit.
5. The Jesson's have a fostered young man living with them who is completely blind and has a little bit of a comprehension problem. I felt prompted to go and talk to him while I waited for my companion to come back from her split. I was able to talk to him about his belief in God, his religious background, and just got to know him! He was really lonely and just needed a friend. By then end, I had him committed to read from his braille book of Mormon, and on Sunday, he came to church!
I'll share one last thought with you and then I will be out of your hair. We went to go and visit a potential and long story short, he wasn't interested. But, The worst part was his wife, hid just around the corner as we talked with him and spewed all kind of awful, foul, and crude things about us and the church, just loud enough that I could hear it. I've never wanted to barge into a strangers house, grab them by the shoulders and shake them so much as I did then. I just wanted to say "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!" Anywho, I was angry. As we walked away, discouraged, we saw a man working on his car. We both felt the need to talk to him. Turns out, he has no religious back ground, was seeking direction, and is like the kindest person I have ever met! His listened intently as we taught and asked him questions. We left him with a book of Mormon and he said "Wow! I will definitely read this!"
I know that God lives. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church in full on the earth today. I know that He loves us and that there are people right now ready to have Him in their lives. All we have to do is love them and invite them to learn more. "Have faith, have hope, live like His Son, help others on their way".
P.S. This week, I will begin using Facebook to do missionary work. You will, if you haven't already, see me post things and update my profile. Friends, I would be more than happy to talk to you to answer any of your questions about God and Jesus christ and what I believe, but it is strictly for that. If you would like to talk to me about anything else, I would LOVE to hear from you, but I won't be able to talk to you about it until Monday, and still on my email.
